BMW will come to the Paris Auto Show in October with two SUV concepts. One will be a BMW brand SUV, the BMW X1, and the other will be the MINI Crossman. Both will be based on the 1-series platform. Production of the BMW X1 has been confirmed at BMW’s Leipzig plant, while the MINI Crossman will be outsourced to Austrian company Magna Steyr.

A source familiar with the plans said that the BMW X1 shown in early concept phase while the MINI Crossman will be shown as a near-to-production of the MINI SUV. The source also said that the two SUVs share the powertrain lineup with the BMW 1-Series.

That means we’re looking at a 3.0L 6-cylinder engine that produces 230-hp and a twin-turbocharged version producing 300-hp.

The BMW X2 will go on sale in the fourth quarter of 2009 while the MINI SUV won’t arrive on the market until the second quarter of 2010.
