The guys at Camaro5.com live, eat and breathe the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. This morning they tipped us on pictures of the Camaro on the assembly line and now they bring us the first pictures of the Camaro’s V6 engine.

From the pictures, it seems to be GM’s 3.6 liter V6 with direct-injection technology found in the 2008 Cadillac CTS that produces 304-hp. It would be nice to see the Pontiac G8 GT’s 6.0L V8 producing 361hp or or the G8 GXP’s 6.2 liter V8 engine producing 402hp as well.

Throw in your two cents in the comments section after the jump.

WHILE IT MIGHT BE NICE TO PUT THE PONTIAC G8 ENGINE IN THE CAMARO, THERE ARE PLENTY OF PONTIAC G8'S STILL SITTING AROUND THE DEALERSHIP–NO ONE WANTS TO PAY MORE THAN $30,000 FOR A CAR THAT GET 15MPG!!!!

They really are not playing w/ this muscle car. Over 300hp for the base engine.

Even tho that will definitely impress fans & enthusiasts, it today's world w/ high gas prices & CAFE, maybe a smaller engine option would be warranted? Perhaps not a 4 cylinder like in 80s but something … ?

though the general is on the fence right now, there is probably going to be a 260bhp turbocharged 4 from the solstice/sky. If 4's don't interest you, consider that it has more horsepower to boot than the IROC-Z's we know and love so much

With the way things are going, you're more likely to see the HHR/Solstice turbo four in this car than a mega 8……..although they might make a few of them for a “halo” effect…
