As the U.S. market for SUVs and pickups falls dramatically, Toyota plans to increase production of its large Sequoia SUV and Sienna minivan for export to fast-growing markets like the Middle East and China. Both models are produced at the automaker’s Indiana plant.
Toyota will begin shipping the new 2009 Sequoia to the Middle East later this year and the Sienna minivan to China and other markets in early 2010.
Toyota declined to comment on the report but said that it is always looking for ways supply its vehicles on a global basis.
