While pricing for the new Ferrari California is still yet to be released, the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California Spyder went for $10.9 million at RM Auctions this past weekend. DJ Chris Evans cashed out €7,040,000 for the Ferrari which was originally expected to go for a winning bid of €3.5 million.
A Ferrari 250 GT California sold last year at an RM Auction at the Concorse d’Eligance for $4.5 million dollars. Evans $10.9 million purchase obviously breaks that record getting him behind the wheel of a dark blue version that used to be owned by The Magnificent Seven star, James Coburn.
The 1961 Ferrari 250 GT SWB California is powered by a 3.0 liter V12 engine that produces 280-hp. The car is best known for its appearance in the 1980s hit, that we’re certain you saw, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Do DJ’s actually make that kind of money? Sorry guys, we’re quitting blogging!
