VW announces 2009 Routan pricing, giving $1,500 for college

When Volkswagen unveiled the Routan minivan at the 2008 Chicago Auto Show, we were told that pricing would be under $25,000. Today Volkswagen announced the official pricing for the Routan which will start at $24,700 for the S Model, $29,600 for the SE Model, $33,200 for the SEL Model and $38,400 for the SEL Model equipped with a Premium Package.

Volkswagen has also teamed up with Uppromise, the country’s largest private source of college funding, to provide $1,500 to customers who purchase or lease a new Routan to put towards their child’s education.

The 2009 Volkswagen Routan will come standard with a 3.8 liter V6 engine that produces 197-hp and 230 lb-ft of torque mated to a six-speed automatic transmission. A 4.0 liter V6 is also available and produces 251-hp and a peak torque of 259 lb-ft. The Routan will arrive in showrooms in September of this year.

The Routan, Volkswagen’s all-new seven-passenger minivan, delivers families the best of both worlds: a vehicle that combines German sensibilities in design, fit and finish, and handling characteristics with market relevant features and outstanding value.
