Ford considers SHO version for 2010 Taurus

In the beginning of April we saw a leaked image of the 2010 Ford Taurus that somehow got out the design studio in Dearborn. While we have no idea what’s going to reside under the hood of the 2010 Taurus lineup, there has been talk on the web that Ford is considering bringing back the SHO when the 2010 model hits showrooms.

Ford recently put together a focus group in Chicago where it invited previous Taurus SHO owners to talk about the 2010 Ford Taurus and a possible SHO version. So what happened at this ‘focus group’ meeting? According to a visitor who writes over at V8SHO, Ford decided not to show any concept, sketches or teasers of the 2010 Taurus. Instead they had a Chrysler 300, Dodge Charger and a Chevrolet Impala on hand.

A group representatives working on the new 2010 Taurus walked in the room and asked the focus group which of the three cars on hand appealed to them the most. Almost everyone said the Dodge Charger, after which the focus group was left to mingle with the Ford team. The Ford team asked the previous Taurus SHO owners about their experience and what they liked and didn’t like about the car.

A couple of engine suggestions were thrown around including a 5.4 liter with twin-turbo producing 400+ horsepower. Some suggested a slightly less powerful engine producing 280-300 horsepower due to recent gas-prices.

Whatever the case may be, BringBacktheSHO drew up some renderings of what we can expect from the 2010 Taurus SHO giving us a better look at the much anticipated Ford flagship.
