eBay looking to team with automakers to sell certified used cars

Posted: May 6, 2008

eBay Motors said today that it wants to team up with other automakers to sell certified used-vehicle programs to its online auction market place. Currently eBay has a partnership with GM and its certified used car dealers. Over 3,900 of GM dealers list their entire inventories on eBay Motors.

eBay Motors vice president, Rob Chesney, said today that eBay is talking to other automakers about a similar arrangement. While he declined to give any names, Chesney said that eBay will make an announcement later this year.

It is still unclear how dealers will go about listing their inventories on eBay Motors. Curtis Korecker, director of vehicles for eBay Motors said it is still working on a way with GM on who will upload photos, description and pricing information for GM’s certified used vehicles. Korecker said the eBay is looking for an automated way for automakers to upload their inventory.
