Next-generation U.S. Ford Focus will be a global product

Yes! We will finally get a taste of the some European FoMoCo. According to Derrick Kuzak, product chief at Ford, the next generation Ford Focus will have about 87 percent of parts sourced from Ford’s global parts including the C1 platform.

The current Ford Focus will be phased about in the beginning of 2010 and will be replaced by a designed Focus built on the C1 platform and carrying the sexy looks of the European Focus.

The redesigned Ford Fiesta which uses 66 percent of its parts from global Ford sources will go on sale in Europe later this year and will arrive on the state side in 2009.

Following CEO Mulally’s main strategy, Ford will be sharing components across the globe to save money and speed up production time. According to Kuzak, FoMoCo’s North American engineering costs will cut by 30 percent in 2009 as a result of the company’s global product-development strategy.
