2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS to be powered by LS2 V8

So we’ve been seeing spy shots and videos of the upcoming sportier version of the Camaro, the Camaro SS, but haven’t heard anything on powertrain details. The car recently hit up the Nurburgring for some high-speed testing wearing Brembo brakes and AutoCar has provided more details on what’s going to be under the hood.

The Chevrolet Camaro will arrive on the stateside early next year. Most Camaros will be equipped with V6s. A Chevrolet source has said the base model will be offered with a 3.6 liter V6 producing up to 281 horsepower. We’ve also heard that a four-cylinder turbo is being considered later down the road that will produce 260 horsepower.

Now for those you who are power hungry for a true muscle car, the V8 range-topper should satisfy your needs. According to AutoCar, the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro SS will likely get GM’S 6.0L LS2 V8 engine that produces 400 horsepower.

The original 1967 Camaro SS was powered by a 6.5 liter V8 that produced 375-hp.
