Corvette ZR1 hits up Nurburgring with lap times in the low 7:40s

First seen at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show, the 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 recently hit up the Nurburgring in Germany for some high-speed fun. The engineers behind the wheel claim that the Corvette ZR1 was bringing in lap times in the low 7:40s.

Edmunds says that given the damp condition and rough hand-timed numbers, they expect to see even quicker lap times when Chevrolet releases its official Nurburgring data. The Nissan GT-R already holds a lap time of 7:38 and the ZR-1 is expected to shave off a couple seconds of that time.

The 2009 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 is powered by a LS9 supercharged 6.2L V8 engine which gives it 620 horsepower and approximately 595 lb-ft. of torque. When the Corvette ZR1 arrives in dealerships it will only be available with two options including chrome wheels and a “luxury” package. Pricing is expected to be around $100,000.

Agreed. Still, impressive numbers. I highly doubt though its going to beat the GT-R, and there are faster cars on the ‘ring still than either of those, so I am not too impressed.
