We’re guessing you were just as surprised as we were after seeing the ‘Ferrari display’ at the 2008 New York Auto Show; apparently so was Ferrari. Ferrari of North America dropped us an e-mail today explaining what the lonely F430 was doing at the show and how it had no connection to the Italian stallion.

For those of you not familiar with the issue at hand, Ferrari was nowhere to be found at the 2008 New York Auto Show. However, right in the middle of Aston Martin, Lamborghini and Bentley, there sat a black F430 against a black background with no Ferrari signage in sight.

Check out Ferrari’s e-mail after the jump.

Dear Editor,

Your surprise in finding the Ferrari F430 displayed at the New York Autoshow
was at least as big as ours. Indeed, Ferrari and Ferrari North America are not
participating to the 2008 edition of the New York Auto Show.
The Ferrari vehicle displayed at the show is therefore not part of the Ferrari
Marketing fleet, nor was Ferrari informed that such vehicle would be displayed
at the Autoshow.

As you have pointed out, this display is not representing the standards of our
Company and our past stands at International Autoshows.

Thank you for your consideration and
All the Best
Ferrari North America
.

Brian Miller who owns Manhattan Motor Cars, is also one of the directors of the New York International Auto Show. While Manhattan Motor Cars is NOT an official Ferrari Dealer, they do sell used Ferrari products.

The keen-eye’d observer will notice that this car bears a Manhattan Motorcars license plate frame, so this was probably just a big “Fuck You” from the New York International Auto Show to the folks at Ferrari…
