New York Auto Show: North America doesn’t get a Mercedes SL 65 AMG

Mercedes has revealed the 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL 63 AMG at the 2008 New York Auto Show. However, us unlucky folks on the stateside will not be getting the fast SL 65 AMG, and we’re pretty upset about that.
The SL63 AMG is powered by a 6.3-liter V8 with 518 horsepower and 465 lb-ft of torque, while V12-powered SL65 AMG, makes 604 horsepower and neck-snapping torque of 738 lb-ft. New this year is the is the innovative seven-speed MCT (multi-clutch) transmission that combines the manual gearbox with lightning-quick automatic gear shifts and four different drive modes: “C” (Comfort), “S” (Sport), “S+” (Sport plus) and “M” (Manual).
The 2009 Mercedes-Benz SL 63 AMG will arrive in U.S. dealerships later this year.
