Benz

Well that’s sure what they’re gunning for at least according to a Swiss publication. Mercedes aims to hit this target by 2010, but Zetsche adds, “We want to attain this target in a sustainable way, not just hit it.”

The bullish Euro and spending on more eco-friendly technology make this especially challenging. To beat Toyota, Mercedes will need higher than a ten-percent margin.

Sounds doable to us. As a luxury maker, Mercedes can increase prices easier than Toyota could on some Corollas. Then again, as the world economy is in peril, people don’t buy as many luxury cars. Will be interesting to say the least. Seems Toyota is the target from everyone from GM to Benz.
