Plans for a baby Porsche SUV are back on

Porsche has repeatedly denied rumors of a baby Cayenne that would be based on the upcoming Audi Q5. However according AutoWeek, plans for an SUV smaller that the Cayenne may be back on now that Porsche is increasing its shares in V-dub to more than 50 percent.

It all depends on politics within the company. Porsche boss Wiedeking has been trying to get Audi to collaborate on a new five-seater SUV for several years now. However, Audi board members killed the idea for a baby Porsche SUV since it would have been a threat to the sales of the Audi Q5.

But now that Porsche may get at least three seats on the Audi board, plans for the baby Cayenne are apparently back on track.

In the mean time, Audi is set to unveil its new 7-speed dual-clutch S-tronic gearbox in the Q5. The new transmission will be launched in other Audi models with the A4 getting it in September.
