Or, if you need an SUV, $25 k is almost enough for a hybrid Ford Escape without options.

Also, Toyota is reportedly going to release the &quot;third generation&quot; Prius as early as 2010.  The 2008 Prius uses nickel metal hydride batteries; the 3G Prius will have lithium ion batteries and get as high as 70 mpg.  Why spend $25 k to convert an existing Prius, when you can wait less than 3 years and pay no more than $30 k for 70 mpg straight-up?</description>
