Court says Ford still owes $82.6 million in Explorer incident

How much more will these Ford Explorer roll over incidents keep taking money out of Ford’s pockets? A recent appeal by a court said that FoMoCo owes Benetta Buell-Wilson, who was paralyzed by her Explorer rolling over, $82.6 million in damages.
Buell-Wilson, a mother of two, was paralyzed from the waist down after her Explorer rolled over 4 1/2 times and the roof collapsed on her neck.
The court was asked by the U.S. Supreme Court to review the case after FoMoCo refused to pay up saying that the company should not be punished since the Explorer met all federal safety standards.
Initially, Buell-Wilson was awarded $369 million, including $246 million in punitive damages. The $82.6 million approved by the appeals court Monday includes punitive damages of $55 million.
