Ford recalls 470,00 Mustangs to update air bags
FoMoCo announced Wednesday that it is recalling 470,000 Mustangs from the 2005-2008 model years to fix how forcefully the air bag pops in the front passenger side.
According to Ford spokesman Wesley Sherwood, internal testing showed that the air bag could injure small unbelted passengers. Sherwood said the fix would address “a very rare scenario.” He said there have been no reports of injuries or accidents tied to the recall.
Customers will be notified early in March and owners can take their Mutangs to a dealer to have the air bag recalibrated. Owners can call 866-436-7732 for more details or visit http://www.ford.com/owner-services.
