I have to say, that I saw this coming as soon as the buyout was first mentioned.
In my opinion, the Land Rover Defender could sell in huge numbers around the world, for civilian and military applications. However, at the moment, it is pretty much a hand produced vehicle. That type of production makes it far too expensive to continue to build it in any great numbers in the UK. India on the other hand, has plenty of cheap labor.

I don't think that Tata is interested in selling a handful of modern Jags and Landies to Europe and the U.S., they would rather sell huge numbers of old tried and trusted technology to the rest of the world!

LR3 OWNER,

Just because it will be bought buy a company based from India doesn't mean Land Rover is going to be built in India. You don't see Land Rover being only built in the U.S. since Ford currently owns it. Despite the fact of ownership, the image of Land Rover is still going to that of Land Rover. Look at Aston Martin.

OHHH NOOOOOOO! Forget about Jag, that's really the end of Land Rover, being built in India??? I bought a $65,000 Land Rover build in Britian, even if owned by Ford. I now hope to sell very quickly to at least get a few dollars back no matter how much I love this car. What a disaster.
