As we reported during the 2008 Detroit Auto Show, the X6 will be BMW’s first hybrid vehicle. Our friends over WorldCarFans have just posted pictures of a very irregular looking BMW X6 with a massive power dome in the front. According to WorldCarFans you’re looking at the first spy shots of the BMW X6 Hybrid which is slated for sale in Europe in 2009 and will most likely make its way to the U.S. in 2010.
The car will be based on the BMW Concept X6 ActiveHybrid, which originally made its debut at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show. The production model will have the two-mode high-performance electric hybrid system that was developed in partnership with Daimler. Fuel-consumption should drop by 20 percent.
Head over to WolrdCarFans for the full shots.
