VW considers smaller models for U.S. starting at $13k

Volkswagen is considering a range of small models for North America with turbocharged 1.4 liter engines and prices that will start around $13,000.
“Small cars like the Polo could be very, very interesting,” said Stefan Jacoby, CEO of Volkswagen Group of America. Jacoby also wants to see a production version of the rear-drive Space Up! Blue Concept that debuted at the LA auto show in November.
Other possible models “are attractive lifestyle cars that are a little bit SUV-looking and a little van,” he said.
Jacoby believes with prices starting at $13,000 or even $14,000, Volkswagen could easily compete with MINI or Smart.
