GM teams up with eBay to sell certified used cars

GM announced today that 3,900 of its dealers who sell GM’s Certified Used Cars will start listing their entire inventories on eBay Motors. The listing will be free for dearlers according to Mark Matthews, GM’s director of use-vehicles activities. He said that the listings, which will include certified used cares from Buick, Chevrolet, GMC, Pontiac and Oldsmobile will begin in the second quarter.

Cadillac, Hummer, Saab and Saturn have separate certified used-vehicle programs, but will also list on eBay Motors in the near future.

“eBay is the No. 1 automotive Web site, 34 percent of all automotive minutes spent on the Web are spent on eBay,” he said.

GM is currently working with eBay Motors to finish the site where vehicles will be listed as online classifieds rather than for sale in an eBay online auction.
