So a couple of blogs this morning have been getting these pictures from an ‘anonymous’ reader claiming that the car you see above is the near-production version of the Mitsubishi Lancer Prototype S. The sketches show that the production version will stay close to the Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback Concept that debuted at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, but will get a more ‘Lancerish’ front fascia.

The Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback Concept was powered by a range of engines that included an entry level 1.5L, a mid-level 2.0L and the top level 2.0L Turbo DOHC MIVEC. We expect the Lancer Prototype S to carry the same lineup with output ranging of 110hp to 280hp.
