VW minivan to be called the Routan

So you remember that VW minivan we told you about that Chrysler will be helping the German auto maker produce? Well Volkswagen today said that that van will be named Routan. Volkswagen said the name was created by joining the word ‘route’ and the ‘an’ suffix used in the names of Touran and Sharan minivans. Ooo, creative.

The new Volkswagen minivan will be produced alongside Chrysler”s Town & Country and the Dodge Caravan at the company”s Windsor plant and will be making its debut at the Chicago Auto Show this February.

The new minivan will be Volkswagen’s first serious entry into the U.S. minivan market after selling the EuroVan in the U.S. in 2003.
