Detroit Auto Show: Nissan FORUM Concept – soccer moms rejoice

Nissan FORUM Concept

We’re more excited about the new redesigned Nissan Maxima that will be revealed at the 2008 New York Auto Show. But today at Detroit Nissan showed its latest concept called the Nissan FORUM Concept, a design study that previews the next-generation of family transportation, offers sliding doors and no B-pillars.

The interior of the Nissan FORUM concept has a multi-position swiveling 2nd row seating that allows for more family interaction. You can also put your kids in “˜Time Out” right in the FORUM concept – well sort of. The “˜Kid Cam” monitoring system, which is mated with 2nd and 3rd row cameras mounted in the headliner, allows the driver to see what”s going on the back via the main instrument panel LCD display monitor. If the driver feels that he needs to yell at the rear-passengers, he can use the “˜Time Out” system which allows him to mute all audio and project his voice through all the speakers, enabling quick communication with everyone in the FORUM.

Of course something this family-friendly has to be environmentally friendly. Nissan says that the FORUM concept, if ever produced, will feature clean diesel or another environmentally sensitive drivetrain.
