Volvo considering an SUV based on the C30 hatchback

It was recently reported that Volvo is considering a five-door hatchback based on the Volvo C30. A new report by Just-Auto suggests that Volvo is expanding its XC SUV range with a compact SUV based on the C30 hatchback by 2010.

The compact SUV is expected to be called the XC30 and will be a rival to the BMW X1 and Audi Q3.

As reported before Volvo is also working on a rival to the BMW X3 and the upcoming Mercedes GLK. The sporty crossover will arrive in the U.S. in 2009 and will be built on Ford”s EUCD platform that the Land Rover LR2 uses. Upon launch, the XC60 will be offered with both 3.2 liter and a 3.2 liter turbo.
