MINI Crossman (SUV) to be BMW 1-Series based

We just brought you news earlier this week that the upcoming MINI SUV, CUV or SAV or whatever you want to call it, will be badged the ‘Crossman.’ In a recent conversation with Auto Motor und Sport, Mini’s CEO said that the Colorado is only the working title. When the next Mini variant hits the roads in 2010, it will carry the name ‘Crossman.’

Now we have some new information from MotoringFile (the guys that write only about MINIs) that the MINI Crossman will be largely based on the new Clubman and the BMW 1-Series while featuring some of the new all-wheel-drive components from MINI itself.

MotoringFile says that the raised Clubman (pictured above) that’s been spotted around Munich, features the wheels straight off the new BMW 1-Series. We can expect the front and rear end of the Crossman to be mostly Clubman-like with a large rear overhang for more trunk space.
