Since Acura engineers totally ripped the whole Advanced Sports Car Concept script, which the NSX was supposed to be based on, speculators said that the NSX wouldn”t appear anytime before the end of the decade. The car was expected to make a debut at this year’s Tokyo Motor Show alongside its rival, the Nissan GT-R, but the NSX was a no show.
Well now Honda has confirmed a 2010 date for the launch of the much anticipated next-generation Acura NSX.
“We are developing it without any delay, so most probably we will have it in the period we already promised,” says American Honda President and CEO Tetsuo Iwamura says, adding that means the car will arrive in 2010. The original date for the NSX was set in the timeframe of 2008-2009 by Honda’s CEO, Takeo Fukui.
Iwamura gave no other information on the development or specs of the NSX. What we know so far is that it is expected to be powered by a V10 unit producing above 500 horsepower.
