According to a source close to the talks, Nissan and Chrysler are in talks to supply cars, trucks and engines to each other. In an effort to save development cost, Nissan and Chrysler both have similar OEM deals with other auto makers.
Even after talks ended between Nissan, its French Partner Renault and GM, Nissan’s CEO has said that he is still interesting in looking for a North American Partner. However according to the source, the talks with Chrysler are on a much smaller product-by-product level.
Reuters tried reaching out to the two automakers but a Nissan spokeswoman declined to comment while no one at Chrysler could be reached.
