Silver dethroned as the hottest auto color, white takes no.1 spot

Silver dethroned as the hottest auto color

According to the DuPont 2007 Global Automotive Color Popularity Report, released Tuesday, silver has lost its 7-year run at the top spot as the hottest color for cars. Last year white and silver were tied as the most popular color in America but this year white leads by 1 percent.

According to the report, white holds 19 percent of the North American market while silver holds 18 percent. Black came in third with 16 percent while red came in fourth with 13.

But we must pay respect to silver for holding the spot for 7 consecutive years, the longest streak ever in the 55-years the survey has been conducted.

Could the iPod culture have anything to do with this? What’s your favorite car in white? Have your say in the comments section below.
