After all the leaked spy shots, Hyundai has finally released official photos of the Hyundai Genesis Sedan after a media preview this week. The Hyundai Genesis Sedan is said to be ‘Hyundai’s new beginning’ and the company’s Lexus rival.

According to the short press release, the rear-wheel-drive Hyundai Genesis will be powered by three different engine variants. First on the list are the 3.3 liter and 3.8 liter V6 editions for which Hyundai hasn’t released any horsepower rating for as of yet. The third engine will be the new Tau V8 engine that produces 375 horsepower.

The Hyundai Genesis will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show in January and will hit U.S. shores in April of 2008. Hyundai aims to sell 20,000 units in the U.S. annually with pricing to come in under $30,000.

Honestly we are very disappointed that it looks nothing like the concept. Have your say in the comments section below.

Press Release:

Marking a new beginning, Hyundai Motor Co. today announced Genesis as the official name of its eagerly anticipated luxury sports sedan. Benchmarking and bettering the competition, the Hyundai Genesis redefines luxury by presenting a credible alternative to the premium automobile offerings from Germany, Japan and the United States.

Adopting a rear wheel drive architecture and numerous technical innovations, Genesis opens a new era of high performance Hyundai motoring.

At the same time, the company has unveiled the Genesis emblem consisting of the Genesis logotype set in a black hexagonal shield framed by a pair of wings. The wings, executed in a hyper-metallic silver, symbolize the spirt of flight and soaring above it all. However, the Genesis emblem will only be applied to the Korean and Chinese markets.

With Genesis, Hyundai opens an exciting new chapter in its 40 year-long history to compete at the very highest levels of the automotive business.

At the pinnacle of the Genesis motoring experience is the all-new Tau V-8 engine which will deliver 375 horsepower to the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. Hyundai’s silk-smooth V-6 Lambda engines will also be offered in 3.3- and 3.8-liter editions. Hyundai pledges excellence at every step of the Genesis ownership experience from purchase to delivery and after-sales service.
