GM will be opening a high-tech design studio in Bangalore, India with input that could be seen on the road by 2012, at least in the interiors.
While the India Design Lab will focus on small cars and will ensure GM cars for the local market meet local design requirements, the studio will be doing design work for all 12 of GM’s global brands.
The studio will employ high-tech visualization equipment including anything from virtual reality to clay models. The India Design Lab will add 100 employees to the existing GM Technical Center in Bangalore already employing 900 professional workers.
