
The automotive blogs were recently flooded with pictures of yet another “Audi R8″ which caught on fire going around the Nurburgring. Many speculated that it was an Audi R8 with a V10 engine.
Now Audi executive Wener Frowein has confirmed that the car that caught on fire in the Nurburgring was indeed an Audi RS8 powered by the 580 horsepower twin-turbo V10 from the Audi RS6 Avant. According to Frowein, the engine created too much heat for the mid-engine setup.
