Caparo to help build Connaught's 300hp Type-D GT

Caparo and Connaught, two of the latest companies to take a part in British sports car production, will be teaming up to build Connaught’s new Type-D GT.

“We’re delighted to have signed a chassis and superstructure supply deal with Caparo,” said Connaught’s Tony Martindale.

Caparo will help build the Type-D’s lightweight chassis and body. Connaught’s Type-D GT will be made of a stainless steel frame with advanced lightweight composite technologies and aluminium body panels. The car will be powered by Connaught’s supercharged V10 engine that produces 300 horsepower.

The twin scroll supercharger and twin pass intercooler allow the Type-D GT to go from 0-60 mph in less than 5 seconds with a top speed of 170mph. Connaught says that the Type-D GT gets a fuel-economy of 22mpg, which is not bad at all considering the performance under the hood.
