Honda & VW top of the food chain in resale value

Honda & VW top of the food chain in resale value

If you want to know which brands to go with to retain a good value when you go to sell in a few years it seems Volkswagens have the highest residual and Honda has four vehicles that are top dog in their respective categories according to a Kelley Blue Book survey.

Those would be the MDX for SUV, Civic for Sedan, Civic Hybrid for, umm, Hybrid and Odyssey for Van. VW’s Eos, Rabbit & Jetta were among the top ten overall.

Toyota made a good showing as well with the Tundra taking the honors for Pickup and Scion xB for Wagon and Scion tC for Hatchback. Rounding out the field, BMW 6-series takes the cake for Luxury Car, Mini Cooper for Convertible and Chevrolet Corvette for Performance.

Also, of note, domestic automakers are gaining back ground by shedding low-margin rental fleet sales that end up dumping cars onto the used car market. They also plan to bring production in sync with demand by reducing excess capacity which leads to overproduction.
