Kia designer Peter Schreyer, ex-Audi designer, is probably pretty pissed off this morning. His new pride and joy, and his “new face of Kia,” crashed on the way to the 2007 LA Auto Show. The car was on its way to the Los Angeles Convention center when it broke free of its cargo restraints inside the transporter and smashed its front end.
Kia spokesman Alex Fedorak says, “We had to send the car back to Italy to get repaired and there is no way it’s going to make it back to the States in time for the LA show.”
The Kia Kee, powered by a 2.7 liter MUE-II V6 engine that produces 197 horsepower, was shown earlier in September at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
The car was getting ready to make a stop at a Kia dealer meeting in Las Vegas before heading to LA when the accident occurred. Unfortunately we have no pictures of the accident.
Anyway, don’t forget to join us next week for live coverage of the 2007 LA Auto Show. It’ll be fun.
