Report: Volvo considering a 5-door C30

Volvo is supposedly considering a five-door hatchback that would be a variant of its popular C30 three-door hatchback. According to Volvo’s senior vice president of R&D, “Such a vehicle could give Volvo a volume boost.”

“The five-door would be less exciting from a design perspective,” he said, “but we’re looking to expand.”

The decision is based on whether markets such as United States and Japan outsell their allocations of the three-door hatchback of the C30. No schedule has been given when the decision would be finalized.

Volvo may be looking for a competitor to the five-door Volkswagen Rabbit (Golf) variant.
