If you’ve been following Mercedes-Benz’s subcompact car plans you know that Mercedes is planning on dropping the baby-Benz A-Class from its product range. Supposedly, Mercedes is now working on a radical revamping of the A-Class.
Back in July, reports flourished that Mercedes was looking to BMW to form a partnership to build its new subcompact cars. Now according to a new report by AutoCar, Mercedes could be in talks with Fiat to develop a new range of small cars.
Industry analysts expect that Mercedes is interested on using the platform of the next-generation Fiat Grande Punto platform as well as Fiat”s small petrol and diesel engines.
The chassis from the Grande Punto could also bring about a replacement for the Smart ForFour baby SUV project.
It was recently reported that Daimler was interested in joining the BMW and PSA collaboration to produce engines for its upcoming small cars.
