Toyota said today that it will cut the price and the size of its next hybrid system by half for the next-generation Prius. According to Executive Vice President, Kazuo Okamoto, the next-generation Prius will be powered by nickel-metal battery instead of a lithium-on.
“When we went from the first-generation Prius to the second-generation, we did the same thing,” Okamoto told reporters at the Tokyo Motor Show.
Toyota is not talking schedule for the next Prius at all but has denied rumors of it being delayed. There is also no word on whether the prices for the next Prius will be reduced due to the cut of the price of the hybrid system.”I can”t tell you when it will come to market, but the preparations are making steady progress,” Okamoto said.
