Tokyo Preview: Audi Metroproject Quattro Concept – A1 Preview

We no longer have to pay for expensive spy shots or photo renderings. Here are the first official photos of the Audi Metroproject Quattro Concept which is said to be the first version of the upcoming Audi A1 minicar. As you can see from the pictures the Audi A1 will be an aggressive looking little beast.
Inside the Audi Metroproject Quattro concept has a battery pack mounted behind the rear passengers, indicating that this is definitely a hybrid. Plug-in or not, we’ll find out next week at the Tokyo Auto Show.
The Audi A1 is expected to come in four different variants including a three-door hatchback, a five-door and a coupe and convertible. Power is expected to come from a 1.2 liter engine that will produce up to 170 horsepower. An S1 variant is expected that will produce upwards of 200 horsepower. A 1.6 diesel variant is also on the drawing board. Production on the Audi A1 is scheduled for 2009.
