Diesels return to Cali with the Mercedes E320 Bluetec

Diesel made a comeback today to California with the launch of the Mercedes-Benz E320 Bluetec. Mercedes will answer the E320 only as a lease vehicle for 2 years/24,000 miles for about $600 a month.
“We’re breaking new ground here as we pave the way for the return of the diesel to California,” said Ernst Lieb, president and CEO of MBUSA. “BLUETEC is the most promising technology for customers who want to get up to 20-40 percent higher fuel efficiency without sacrificing the performance and the driving characteristics they’re used to.”
The Mercedes E320 Bluetec is a V6 powered car delivering well over 30 mpg. The car can travel more than 700 highway miles on a single tank.
In January, the Mercedes-Benz E320 Bluetec will be available as a 24-month lease vehicle in the seven other states including New York, Maine, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Pennsylvania. All have adopted California’s stricter emissions standards.
Other Bluetec model offerings from Mercedes include the 2008 M and R-Class Crossovers as well as the GL-class.
