Ferrari to offer direct fuel injection in two years

Hoping to stay true to its high-performance lineup and meet government restrictions on low emissions Ferrari will introduce direct fuel injection to its lineup. With the help of Audi and Bosch, who helps Audi built their FSI direct-injection engine, Ferrari will have the direct fuel injection engines in its lineup with in two years.

Insiders say that new engine will allow for a 10 percent improvement in horsepower and at least 40 percent reduction in emissions.

According to AutoCar the direct injection engine will debut on an upgraded F430 coupe in 2009 followed by the 612 Scaglietti and then the 599 GTB Fiorano.
