Toyota is recalling a total of 55,000 floor mats due to complaints that the mats get caught to the accelerator pedal and cause unintentional acceleration.
The folks at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration took it a step further and asked drivers of other Toyota vehicles, including the Prius, to check their floor mats as well.
Toyota said that the recall involves 30,500 mats from the 2007 Lexus ES 350 and 24,500 mats from the 2008 Toyota Camry. Toyota will contact all the owners in October and will offer a replacement in November.
