Pricing for Audi’s new R8 is being put to test on eBay’s marketplace. So far Audi has delivered ‘11 or 12′ R8’s to customers in the U.S. and two of those have already turned up on eBay.
According to Johan de Nysschen, Audi of America’s executive vice president, one seller was looking for $241,000 for his R8. One seller of the two sellers has pulled the car off eBay after having a minimum bid of $160,000.
“It annoys me and embarrasses me,” de Nysschen says. “You can imagine the comments I’ll hear tomorrow” from Germany, he says.
The Audi R8 with a six-speed R tronic automatic gearbox will have a MSRP of $118,000 while the six-speed manual transmission will start at $109,000.
Currently, we’ve found one R8 on eBay which has no bids. The auction has a starting bid of $174,999 with a ‘But It Now’ option starting at $184,999. The car has 206 miles on it with the following options:
Phantom Black Pearl: $650
Enhanced Leather Package $5500: Tuscan Brown seats; black leather on doors and dash
Premium Package $3500:
Audi Parking System Advanced; 6 CD Changer; Audi Hill Hold Assist; Homelink; Bluetooth; Auto dimming exterior mirror; Storage package
Navigation: $2000
Bang and Olufsen Sound System: $1800
