Remember last week we told you what Ferrari had planned in its future product line? One of the cars in development we spoke about was a 2+2 V8 Coupe. Well it seems like Ferrari will be bringing a convertible version of that car to the 2008 Detroit Auto Show in January.
Known as the ’F149′ 430 GT California, the car will be powered by a 4.3 liter V8 direct-injection engine that produces 450 horsepower. The engine will be mated with the F1 ‘Superfast’ sequential-shift gearbox that the Italian automaker launched in the F430 Scuderia at Frankfurt last week. A manual transmission may be optional.
Ferrari has updated the F430′s aluminium spaceframe to accommodate a folding roof. According to Italiaspeed, the car will be front-engined.
The ‘F149′ 430 GT California will rival cars like the Aston Martin V8 Vantage but will be cheaper than the F430 Berlinetta and Spide. Prices are expected to start from €130,000.
Italiaspeed also says that the cope version of this 2+2 model will be powered by a 3.5 liter V6 producing 350 horsepower. That variant is expected to be priced around €100,000.
