Chrysler confirms Dodge Challenger SRT-8

According to the folks at Ward’s Auto, Chrysler has confirmed that it will build the Dodge Challenger SRT-8. That 70’s look car, which is built on the next-generation LX platform, is expected to launch sometime after 2009 models hit the market.

Supposedly, plans on building the car were put on halt due to fuel-economy concerns. But according to Steve Landry, vice president of NAFTA, “In recent research with SRT owners, the price of fuel does not come up on the radar as something that concerns them.”

The Dodge Challenger SRT-8 is powered by a 6.1 liter Hemi V8 that may produce 425 horsepower.
