A lot more info: VW Passat four-door-coupe
Last week we brought you spy shots of a Mercedes CLS inspired, Passat four-door coupe. The car was caught somewhere in the southwest going under some hot weather testing. While not much information was available at that time, we went on hunt for more about the four-door-coupe from Volkswagen.
What we know: The Passat four-door coupe is expected to be powered by the same engine variants as the original Passat. Expected to come in as a 2009 model late next year, the Passat four-door coupe is expected to be priced between $35,000 to $45,000.
What we learned: The Volkswagen Passat four-door-coupe is ready for a Frankfurt debut and will go on sale in 2008 targeting family car buyers looking for an affordable CLS style car. On the front, the Passat four-door-coupe will feature twin-headlights with a chrome grille. According to AutoExpress, interior quality is said to be superior than the regular Passat”s with more equipment as standard. According to CarMagazine, the car will be more saloon looking than a coupe to allow for a more spacious interior with the rear passengers getting figure-hugging seats.
Another cool feature is the integrated tailgate which is put together by a double-hinged device and powered by a button. If you push the button once, the lower lid will lift. Push it twice, and the rear window will swing skyward like a station-wagon rear end.
More information on the engine specs say that Volkswagen’s new TSI line-up will be included on the four-door-coupe. The revised badging system badging system will differentiate the variants by different-colored letters to tell whether it is turbocharged or supercharged.
