According to the folks over at HyundaiExchange.com, Hyundai’s R&D head Hyun-Soon Lee says that the 4.6 liter V8 engine used in the upcoming Huyndai Genesis will produce up to 380 horsepower. Lee, spoke to a group of South Korean business executives at a conference about the upcoming luxury sedan.

Hyundai has said that it hopes to aim the Genesis at the Lexus LS-level of luxury while keeping pricing towards the Chrysler 300C.

The rear-wheel drive premium sports sedan scheduled to grace the Hyundai lineup in 2008. It is expected to have standard features such as Bluetooth technology, HD radio, navigation and active cruise control. It also has safety features like front, side and rear airbags, anti-lock brakes and stability control.

Previously, Huyndai stated that the 4.6 liter V8 engine allows the car to produce 300 horsepower.

This is not the Hyundai of the past. I own an 06 Sonata LX6 and an 06 Azera Limited and let me tell you both cars are outstanding. Over 1 year for both cars and not one problem, no squeaks or noises. My Azera is every bit the competitor with the entry level Lexus and it has the Toyota Avalon “hanging by a thread”. I previously owned Acura TL’s and I don’t miss them at all. When they introduce the Genesis watch out. The problem is badge snobbery. Get over it! I have people looking with amazement at my pearl white Azera and asking what it is until they see the flying H and then they can’t believe it. My Sonata is a roomy, peppy sedan with good manners and reliability. The price points of these cars don’t hurt either. Go Hyundai!
