Japanese students of Osaka Sangyo University made it into the Guinness Book of World Records with their fastest battery-powered car that uses only standard AA batteries.
The Oxyride racer, powered by 192 AA batteries, hit a top speed of 75 mph, while driver Takashi Sudo was behind the wheel. The car has a carbon fiber-reinforced plastic frame and weighs just 85 pounds.
The project was a joint venture between a local electrical company and the students of Osaka Sangyo University.
