While Al Gore’s son, Al Gore III, still holds the record for the top speed in a Toyota Prius, the co-founder of Apple, Steve Wozniak, is right behind him. We’re sure you remember when Al Gore’s son was caught doing 105 mph last month in Southern California. It got everyone thinking if the Prius could actually go that fast. Well, it can.

Steve Wozniak was recently ticketing for going 104 mph in his Prius. He pleaded guilty, but with an explanation.

According to several e-mails exchanged in the past few days with The Mercury News, Wozniak stated “I said that I was really scientific, and in the last year had been in Athens, Moscow, Berlin, Frankfurt, Munich (twice), Zurich, Canada (three times), Columbia, Singapore, Japan, London, etc., and had gotten used to kilometer speeds.”

While the judge got a good laugh out of his explanation, he didn’t buy it. The fine was about $700. Wozniak was headed out to Las Vegas for a business trip with his pal Dan Sokol.
