Spy Shots: Aston Martin V8 Vantage RS?

When the shots of this Aston Martin hit the web a couple of days ago, speculators were quick to conclude that this may be the U.S. version of the V8 Vantage. Well the folks over at Autogespot.nl did some digging and found out that this may actually be the Aston Martin V8 Vantage RS.

Announced back in December of 2005 for a late 2007 release, the Aston Martin V8 Vantage is a lightweight (1270kg) variant of the bigger V8 Vantage. The Aston Martin V8 Vantage RS weight about 150kg less than the Vantage and produces around an extra 40 horsepower for a total of 420.

With the Vantage V8 RS, Aston Martin hopes to compete with the likes of Porsche GT3 and the Audi R8.
